The Virginia Cavaliers came up short in an upset bid on the road of the No. 18 Clemson Tigers, falling 34-21.
Virginia hung right with the Tigers in the first half, trailing by just three heading into the intermission.
However, Virginia failed to score any points in the second half, and Clemson scored 13 in the third quarter to cruise to the win.
Virginia now just has their big rivarly game with the Virginia Tech Hokies remaining on the schedule.
It will very likely be the last game for Al Groh as head coach at Virginia, which will please the boosters and fans.

The Virginia Cavaliers looked like a team ready for their season to end in a 14-10 loss to the Boston College Eagles.
Virginia trailed 7-0 at halftime but scored all 10 of their points in the third quarter to take the lead late in the game.
However, a fourth quarter touchdown by Boston College proved to be the deciding score.
It’s been an interesting season to say least for the Cavaliers, who started off poorly, played very well in October and are now fading down the stretch.
It’s becoming more and more clear that head coach Al Groh will not survive and will be fired at the end of the season.

Last year, the Virginia Cavaliers knocked off the Miami Hurricanes in one of the biggest upsets in the ACC.
This year, Miami got its revenge.
The Hurricanes poured it on early and often and never really called off the dogs in a 52-17 romp of the Cavaliers.
Virginia was able to hang with Miami’s potent offense in the first half, trailing just 24-17 heading into the locker room.
The second half was where it got ugly, as the Cavaliers were shut out while surrending two touchdowns in each of the final two quarters.

It wasn’t quite November yet, but it seemed that the Virginia Cavaliers thought the month of October was already over.
Maybe it had something to do with Halloween, but the Virginia Cavaliers lost at home to the Duke Blue Devils, 28-17.
Virginia has been so good this year and in past seasons during the month of October despite struggling outside of that time period.
The Cavaliers were positioning themselves to be a player in the ACC race until Duke changed those plans.
Duke jumped out to a first quarter lead and scored 19 points in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
